With the Year of the Rat approaching, Greenland was invited by Swaffield School to join its Chinese New Year celebration in the school assembly in January.
Swaffield School is a big community primary school in Wandsworth with a good reputation for high quality teaching. It has chosen “China” as this Spring Term’s special topic for the Year 3 children. A series of sub-topics such as Chinese New Year, Chinese traditional tales, Chinese food and Chinese life are embedded in the learning and activities throughout the term.
Stephanie Zhang, Deputy Design Director at Greenland UK, addressed the children in their morning assembly, and talked about the importance of the New Year tradition in Chinese family and cultural life. The children were interested and engaged, and had lots of questions.
Stephanie also participated in the school’s award-winning “Knight School” programme which teaches old-fashioned British values based on the Knights’ Code of Conduct and Chivalry. This is aimed at supporting the children in the modern world.
Greenland is always keen to engage with local communities with a view to shaping a better world, and promotes cultural exchange and advances community prosperity by partnering with local authorities and organisations. More activities will take place with Swaffield School in the following months.
