Greenland UK has secured ‘adventure bar’ operator Boom: Battle Bar as a new outlet at its Ram Quarter development in Wandsworth – offering a unique new evening out to south London thrill-seekers.
Boom is a new concept bar pairing cocktails, craft beers and street food with an eclectic variety of indoor gaming experiences. The venue will be family-friendly and open to all during the daytime, and for adults only after 7pm. Visitors will be able to try their hand at a range of fun-filled group games – including crazy golf, boules, table tennis, electric darts, pool, shuffleboard and beer pong. The most adventurous and steady-handed customers can even test their aim with Bavarian axe throwing.
The new Ram Quarter venue is due to open later in 2021, taking a 10,000 sq ft prime spot on the development’s riverside promenade, Barley Walk, overlooking the River Wandle. Boom has taken a 15-year lease, demonstrating a long-term commitment to Wandsworth and to Ram Quarter.
Once home to Young’s, the former brewery site is being transformed by Greenland into a leisure and experience-led retail destination, with a focus on independent brands. Greenland has secured strong demand from a range of exciting occupiers at Ram Quarter which have been fitting-out and preparing to open as lockdown restrictions ease.
Last month Sambrook’s Brewery completed its move to its new home in Ram Quarter’s main square, opening its bottle shop and with a new beer tap due to start serving in the summer. Thai restaurant and deli Mai Thai also opened its doors last month, and craft beer bar Schooner welcomed its first guests on 1 May.
These are trading alongside fine dining restaurant London Stock, Backyard Cinema and local Wandsworth independent café Story Coffee. Later this year they will be joined by Strike, southwest London’s first bowling alley, which is currently fitting-out its seven bowling lanes and diner.
Boom’s move to Ram Quarter is part of its expansion drive, building on its current successes in locations such as Cardiff and Norwich. It currently has 10 bars open or planned to open across the UK.
Elliott Shuttleworth, CEO of Boom: Battle Bar, said: “Boom is a concept unlike any the residents of Wandsworth will have experienced. There’s a real buzz about the reopening of London’s nightlife, and we can’t wait to get people back together and give them a night out to remember at Ram Quarter.”
Chris Daly, deputy director, commercial, at Greenland (UK), said: “We’re building a really diverse mix of innovative, independent brands here at Ram Quarter. As lockdown restrictions loosen, people are looking for something that bit different as a way to catch up with family and friends. That’s what Boom offers, and given the incredible reception it has had at its first two venues we can’t wait to see it open its doors to the residents of South London.”
At Ram Quarter, Greenland has already delivered more than 300 new homes – including the multi award-winning restored loft apartments within the Grade-II listed brewery buildings.
