Ram Quarter was at the heart of festive celebrations last weekend as the Wandsworth Town Christmas Festival launched the community’s countdown to Christmas.
Working with Wandsworth Town Business Improvement District, Ram Quarter began festivities with a special Christmas edition of its popular Makers Market. Brought together by market operator Design Led, which focuses on British brands and sustainability, almost 60 unique and independent traders lined Bubbling Well Square and extended into Ryeland Boulevard, selling everything from original artwork to houseplants, winter fashion, jewellery, kitchenware, gin, delicious treats, and more.
As enthusiastic gift-givers made progress on their Christmas shopping lists at the market, little ones were able to enjoy the fairground rides at Ram Quarter, which included bumper cars and a bouncy bungee experience.
Inaugurated earlier this autumn, the Makers Markets at Ram Quarter have quickly become hugely popular with local residents and visitors from further afield. The final two markets of this year will take place on Saturday 3rd and Saturday 17th December. The markets will return in March next year and will run throughout the year.
The festival activity at Ram Quarter was part of a wider day of fun and events in the borough. Elsewhere on the high street, families were treated to an audience with Mrs Claus, where she told of Christmas capers at the North Pole. Local broadcaster Riverside Radio brought live acts to the town centre including talented vocalists, dancers and pupils at Wandsworth Prep singing traditional Christmas carols. The event was sponsored by brewer Young’s reflecting its longstanding bond with Wandsworth and with the historic Ram brewery which continues to brew within Ram Quarter.
Lee Wilson, founder of market operator Design Led, said: “It was fantastic to see the community coming together at Ram Quarter at last weekend’s festival, enjoying the beautiful wares our traders offer. We’re thrilled at the popularity of the market. It has become a real highlight of the many fantastic things to do in Wandsworth, and we'll be continuing to refresh our line-up of fabulous makers, with favourites returning and more new traders and products coming to next year's markets too. Watch this space!”
