Ram Quarter was once again at the heart of local celebrations last weekend as it hosted Wandsworth Town's Christmas Festival Market. In partnership with Wandsworth Town Business Improvement District, Ram Quarter began the day's events with a special Christmas market. Brought together by market operator Design Led, which focuses on British brands and sustainability, 60 independent traders gathered in Bubbling Well Square and Ryeland Boulevard, selling a wide range of items including jewellery, winter fashion, candles, cushions, kitchenware, houseplants, artworks, and delicious snacks and drinks. There were several children's rides at Ram Quarter too, including a bouncy bungee experience and a bucking Christmas pudding.
The activity at Ram Quarter was part of a wider day of fun and events locally. Elsewhere on the high street families enjoyed an audience with Mrs Claus, who told Christmas tales of the North Pole, and Father Christmas himself made three appearances so that families could take pictures with him. Local broadcaster Riverside Radio hosted the main stage, with performances from local singers and dancers, and pupils at Wandsworth Prep. A 6-piece steel pan group gave performances at various locations throughout the day too, including in Ram Quarter's main square. The Mayor of Wandsworth switched on the Christmas lights. The BID also launched its Nutcracker Competition, which will run until 18 December: families collect a flyer and solve clues to find four nutcrackers hidden in Southside to enter a prize draw.
The Christmas Festival was co-sponsored by brewer Young’s which has a longstanding relationship with Wandsworth and with the historic Ram brewery which continues to brew at Ram Quarter.
James Mbanefo, Manager of Wandsworth Town BID, said: "Our thanks go to Ram Quarter for hosting the market and children's rides. This year's Christmas Festival was busier than ever. It was wonderful to see the excellent Christmas cheer and so many people from the community attending and participating."
