Greenland is delighted that the winner of its recent Ram Quarter photography competition has now been announced.
The photography competition was launched to coincide with the tours offered by Ram Quarter as part of this year's Open House festival - an annual celebration of the capital's architecture. Walking tours were led by EPR Architects, the firm which designed Ram Quarter's masterplan. Visitors were given a walking tour of the development and an overview of its design and plan. They were then handed over to the manager of the development's on-site Heritage Centre who told the story of the UK's oldest continuously-operating brewing site and showed the treasures that have been carefully preserved by Greenland and are now available for public viewing at Ram Quarter. During the festival, visitors to the development were encouraged to take a photograph showing the development's design or architecture to striking effect.
The winning entry - published on our website's News page - was taken by Alison Cousins, and was selected by EPR Architects. EPR said that Alison's image "captures the variances in colour and materiality between the buildings" and “celebrates the site’s heritage within its contemporary setting”. Alison tried to demonstrate in her photograph what she described as Ram Quarter's "great mix of original features, new structures/ colours/ materials". As for the tour itself, Alison had one word to describe it: "excellent".
Congratulations to Alison! We hope you'll enjoy your prize - an evening of pizza and beer at our onsite brewery Sambrook's.
