Ram Quarter supports local London charities over Christmas

Community 13 January 2023

Residents at Greenland’s Ram Quarter development in Wandsworth have shown their generosity this winter with donations to two leading London charities.  The community came together to help those in need at a time when many are facing hardship.

Ram Quarter is Wandsworth town centre’s newest residential, retail and leisure hub – with a thriving community now established at the former Young’s brewery site where Greenland has delivered stunning new-build and heritage homes.

In the run-up to Christmas the management at Ram Quarter organises opportunities for residents to contribute to charities carrying out important work locally in Wandsworth and across the capital.  At the end of ast year, in addition to collecting toy donations for the children in Great Ormond Street Hospital – an annual drive to which Ram Quarter regularly contributes – Ram Quarter also selected the local Wandsworth Foodbank charity as a recipient of the generosity of the development's residents.

Wandsworth Foodbank (part of the Trussell Trust network) supports people and families in need of emergency food supplies, toiletries and advice.  The charity partners with local churches to run seven welcome centres in Wandsworth Borough, and relies on the kindness of people in the local community to give time, food and money.  A foodbank collection station was opened at Ram Quarter for residents in the weeks before Christmas to make it easier for people support the charity.  A representative of the charity estimated that Ram Quarter's donations equalled several hundred meals.

Donations were also given to Great Ormond Street Hospital, the internationally-renowned centre of excellence for children’s healthcare and research.  A collection was set up for the Ram Quarter community to donate gifts, which were delivered to the hospital in time to be given to the children on Christmas Day.  The total value in toy donations raised from Ram Quarter and other developments participating was more than £10,000.

Taotao Song, CEO of Greenland UK, said: “Christmas is an important time for communities to pull together, and the great generosity of the Ram Quarter residents has helped to bring some Christmas cheer to many people and families this year. Thank you to everyone who made a donation, and to the teams involved in making it all happen.”
